The goal was to send “two strong heads” close to Messi and Neymar. Last season, these men were at the head of a powerful and influential clan which weighed on the daily life and on the sporting choices of the former Parisian coach, Mauricio Pochettino. This group also opposed Kylian Mbappé on various subjects. Paredes’ latest media release on the Frenchman is therefore not surprising, proof that the relationship was not very good between Mbappé and certain South American players. A heavy atmosphere therefore reigned in the PSG locker room. This is why Luis Campos has targeted “dressing room men” as recruits this summer, such as Carlos Soler, Fabian Ruiz and Vitinha. The Parisian management therefore wanted to bring together players of the same nationality with the Portuguese (Vitinha, Danilo, Nuno Mendes and Renato Sanches), and the Spaniards (Sergio Ramos, Soler, Sarabia, Ruiz, Rico, Bernat). These players were wanted to keep a good balance and a certain stability within the group.

Arrived in the summer of 2021 at PSG, Sergio Ramos had a complicated first season with his many injuries. This season, he has become a major element of Christophe Galtier on the pitch, but also in the locker room. Since he started, the Spaniard has played an important role as an unofficial captain. The central defender does not hesitate to intervene during hot moments, such as during the confusion between Neymar and Mbappé to take the penalties, Ramos had calmed things down. He also knows how to motivate the troops by playing the atmosphere and having a good relationship with most PSG players. Proof that the Parisian locker room is living much better this season than some time ago, despite the slight tensions between Neymar and Mbappé, which could ease in the months to come, according to the results of the Ile-de-France club.
