France squad for the 2022 World Cup: Who was called up & who was dropped?

France’s defensive talent pool is simply unbelievable.

The line of talent behind the French back line is almost unbelievable.

There are William Saliba (Arsenal), Raphael Varane (Manchester United), Presnel Kimpembe (PSG), Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool), Jules Kounde (Barcelona), Wesley Fofana (Chelsea), Dayot Upamecano and Lucas Hernandez (Bayern Munich). They are all fighting for two or three places in the central defender position.

For the left-back position, Theo Hernandez and Ferland Mendy are the main names. Each played regularly at AC Milan and Real Madrid and both were always solid at the back.

In the other corner, Benjamin Pavard should be Deschamps’ choice, while Ruben Aguiler and Jonathan Clauss could be options.

There are various other players such as Clement Lenglet, Lucas Digne, and Kurt Zouma who have the potential to make the World Cup squad.

Without a doubt, Deschamps will have to break hearts and dreams to prepare his final roster of 26 players.
