“Four to five names” on the trainer shortlist

After the dismissal of Pellegrino Matarazzo, VfB Stuttgart are still looking for a new coach. The Bundesliga soccer club should have several candidates in mind. However, there is no sign of a quick decision.

As the “kicker” reports, VfB Stuttgart has “a kind of shortlist with four to five names”. In this context, the trade magazine names Sebastian Hoeneß (last at TSG Hoffenheim) and Adi Hütter (last at Borussia Mönchengladbach) as potential solutions.

However, “coaches currently under contract should be part of the list,” writes the “kicker”. Specific names are not mentioned in this context. The names Hoeneß and Hütter have already been closely associated with VfB Stuttgart in the past few days.

“Sky” recently even reported that Hoeneß was identified as the favorite for the Swabians.

Loew and Tedesco probably not to VfB Stuttgart

The most recently traded Zsolt Löw (last assistant coach at FC Chelsea) and Domenico Tedesco (last at RB Leipzig) will apparently not find their way to VfB Stuttgart.

There will probably be no decision before the upcoming Bundesliga game against VfL Bochum (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.). In all likelihood, Michael Wimmer will take a seat on the bench on an interim basis. The fact that the 42-year-old could become a permanent solution with good results should not be “finally” ruled out. At VfB Stuttgart, “thoroughness comes before speed,” says the “kicker”.

“Our goal is, quickly, the most accurate and best possible solution for another 1000 days, 100 games and not for one, three or five games,” said sporting director Sven Mislintat on the search for a successor to Pellegrino Matarazzo. The 44-year-old looked after VfB in a total of 100 competitive games.
