Frankfurt anger over penalty scandal

After Dortmund’s 2-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt, there was only ONE topic of conversation!

The scene in the 42nd minute, when BVB striker Adeyemi knocks Eintracht-Dane Lindström to the ground, but referee Sascha Stegemann decides that the Frankfurt professional should handball the ball because he falls on the ball.

BamS referee Thorsten Kinhöfer: “For me it’s a foul game and accordingly referee Stegemann should have decided on a penalty.”

The referee also admitted to “Sky” after the game: “On the field it was just normal physical contact, I couldn’t see a clear foul. But when you see the pictures now, you have to realize that there should have been a penalty.”

How did the contact with the Cologne cellar go? Stegemann: “I only noticed the physical contact and transported that to Cologne. It was not presented as wrong there.” Video assistant was Robert Kampka.

As a substituted player, Sebastian Rode (32) unloads his frustration on the 4th official Nicolas Winter, receiving a yellow card in injury time.

The Eintracht captain said after the game on “Sky”: “The fourth official gave us the instruction before the season, so we have a history. Today he made a somewhat arrogant impression, he didn’t answer questions normally. That’s why I got carried away a bit.”

A hard Rode accusation! But primarily everything revolved around the missed penalty in the first half.

Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche (42) was really angry, it becomes clear: “It was a penalty and then you have to ask in the basement. That’s pissing me off. We spoke to the referees about it 840 times. You can’t do it like that. Then the referee should rather make the mistake, that’s human. Then stomp the basement.”

But Eintracht also has to blame themselves and cannot take advantage of the best opportunities.

★ 57 minutes: Schlotterbeck scrapes a Götze shot off the line.

★ 58th minute: The outstanding BVB keeper Kobel (BamS grade 1!) saves against Lindström.

★ 62 minutes: Kobel saves with his foot again, this time against Kolo Muani’s shot.

BVB defender Mats Hummels (33): “If Frankfurt make better use of its chances here today, we will leave the field as losers.”

In added time there’s a lot of Zoff again. Reyna, Tuta and Trapp see yellow after forming a pack.
