Since 2020, the “Genesis” Basketball School has been representing basketball in Puerto Vilelas, taking care of boys and girls from 4 to 19 years old, being the only institution in the town that offers this discipline. The Defensores de Vilelas club offers its facilities in the micro-stadium for daily practice, without forgetting that the San José Sports Center also makes its facilities available.
This institution began to carry out all its actions directly and non-profit, whose purpose is to provide a healthy discipline to children and young people of Puerto Vilelas. Currently it has the support of the provincial government and the Municipality of this town led by Mayor Víctor Rea, as well as community resources.
The “Genesis” basketball school was founded by coach Leonel Santana, with Mariela Resch as coordinator and Delia Resch as social psychologist, in addition to the support of parents and students.
The “Genesis” basketball school has 80 students (boys and girls of different categories), some with different disabilities, but with the same purpose, in addition to being united by the game, friendship and values.
“Your teammates on the field should be your best friends, victory is built on and off the field, with a mixture of friendship and effort,” said coordinator Mariela Resch.
Days and times
_ At the San José Sports Center: Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7, 30 with the mini category (from 4 to 13 years old). As for the “Youth” category (from 13 to 19 years old), from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. You are not charged any fees, they are community tasks and everything is totally free.
_ Whereas in the facilities of Defensores de Vilelas: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, only physical and disciplinary work, from 12 to 19 years old, only new boys and girls and students with some disability, during school hours. 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
