After a short defeat on the side of Mechelen during the last day, Cholet revived this Tuesday evening against Rilski Sportist. Laurent Vila’s men prevailed (65-83) and pocketed a precious victory in the race to qualify for the next round.
In Bulgaria, Cholet signed a second success in FIBA Europe Cup and revived after the defeat conceded in Mechelen last week.
From the start of the game, Cholet set the tone with a three-point basket from Dominic Artis (0-31’). The Mauges club then cautiously took the lead thanks to Justin Patton as well as Kim Tillie and Neal Says off the bench (13-18, 10’). In the second act, the Choletais accelerated and jostled a Hungarian team in lack of benchmarks (19-30, 15’) and managed their advantage until the break (26-36, 20’).
Cholet did not distraught
Carried by his Americans, Cholet continued his march forward after returning from the locker room and saw T.J. Campbell set the sights behind the arc to take a 13-point lead (28-41, 13’). In the racket, Perry Ellis and Justin Patton continued to power the brand while Neal Says snapped a dunk on the counter-attack just before the last act to give his team a 15-point lead (41-56, 30’). Thereafter, the Choletais continued the job and were able to count on Kim Tillie and Hugo Robineau to increase the gap and pocket a precious victory in the race for qualification.
With two wins and one loss, Cholet temporarily takes the lead of his group with 5 points and will have to confirm his good European result this weekend in Paris. (20:00).
