Bautista, about the Gijón Open: “It’s a flirty tournament and made with love”

“As Spaniards, we appreciate the effort that the organization is making in supporting tennis. We always like to play at home. You always have extra motivation, a little more energy”. Roberto Bautista applauded the opportunity that Asturias has turned to the Gijón Open to host an event in which he highlights his care. “It’s a small, cute tournament, made with love. The central court has been beautiful. Everything is very easy and it’s very good for the players. The city and being in Spain is incredible for us because we spend many weeks away”, explained the castellonian

He has not come to Gijón for a walk. Roberto Bautista is willing to fight for victory in a tournament in which he starts as one of the seeded teams along with Cerúndolo, Rublev and Carreño. “This tennis thing is complicated. Every week is new, it starts from scratch. The heads of the series are for something. I can’t be thinking too much about the others either. I try to think of myself,” he said about who he sees as the favorite.

“My aspirations are to fight to reach the last round. Whenever I try to play a tournament it’s like this. Here all the rivals play very well. I know how difficult each round is. Let’s see if I can play a good game and start well the tournament this Thursday”, Bautista concluded after exercising at the Gijon facilities.
