Basketball legend opens restaurant “Nowitzki”

Dirk Nowitzki (44) gets his own restaurant at the airport in Dallas. The German basketball legend also wants to offer local food there.

Bratwurst on the menu

So anyone who lands at the airport in Dallas in the future may be able to fortify themselves with a Franconian slaughterhouse or Würzburg “Blausudsulz”, a bratwurst variation. The bratwurst is already listed on the menu published by Nowitzki’s project partner. The airport operators announced that that “Nowitzki” will open in Terminal C in summer 2023. The restaurant will also feature a bar where guests can order a “Mav’s Blue Margarita,” “Slam Dunk,” or “Dirk’s Fadeaway.”

Shirt number no longer assigned

Nowitzki switched from DJK Würzburg to the North American professional league NBA in 1999 and played there exclusively for the Dallas Mavericks until his career ended in 2019. In 2011, the longtime captain led his team to the only championship in club history to date. The jersey of the “German Wunderkind” with the number 41 has been hanging under the roof of the Mavericks Arena since January of this year. In honor of Nowitzki, the jersey number will no longer be awarded by the Texans. (dpa)
