Argentina harvested 12 medals on the fourth day of the Asunción 2022 South American Games

On the fourth day of competition for the XII South American Games Asunción 2022the representatives of the Argentine delegation reaped medals again: the number of 12 medals, just like the ones achieved on Tuesday. In this case they were one gold, six silver and five bronze. With these results, he dropped one place in the medal table and now occupies fifth place overall, something that, until now, would be disappointing because the objective was to finish, at least, third, especially considering that the country brought to Paraguay the largest delegation of all those in the competition. Ivan Nikolayuk got the gold medal in the men’s individual compound archery category. Nikolajuk had a consistent performance and in the final he beat the Brazilian Roberval Fernando Dos Santos by 139 to 134. On his way to the top of the podium, yesterday, for the round of 16, Nikolajuk prevailed by 145 to 135 the Ecuadorian Josepth David García Santos, while in the quarterfinals he left behind the Brazilian Luccas Artamonoff Fonseca de Abreu by 143-142. NATION

Andrea Berrino she shone again, in this case in the women’s 50-meter freestyle because she set the second best mark in the classification with 26.27 and achieved the silver medal with a time of 25.70. Berrino shared the podium with Brazilians Lorrane Versiani Ferreira (gold, 25.42) and Stephanie Balduccini (bronze, 25.78). Macarena Ceballos was seventh with a time of 26.11.

While the mixed 4×100 free relay team, made up of Guido Alejandro Buscaglia, Roberto Iván Strelkov, María Guillermina Ruggiero and Lucía Milagros Gauna reached the silver medal, marking a time of 3 minutes, 33 seconds and 1 hundredth, behind Brazil (3:30.22). The bronze went to Venezuela (3:35.27).

In the 4×100 mixed combined relay, the quartet formed by Andrea Berrino, Juan Bautista Caroccia, Macarena Ceballos and Guido Buscagliagot the bronze medal with a time of 3:54.09, after a great comeback in the final meters, and was behind Brazil (gold with 3:49.56) and Colombia (silver with 3:53.81).

TAEKWONDO

Margaret Echeverria got the silver medal in the specialty of female individual Poomsae. She could not in a final that was defined in details against the Panamanian Daniela Rodríguez Luna and she lost by 7,280 to 7,215.

In the category -49 kilos female, Giulia Sendra she won the quarterfinals against the Venezuelan Virginia Dellan Morao by 2-0, but in the semifinals she lost to the Colombian Andrea Ramírez Vargas by 2-1, with which she kept the bronze medal.

While Lucas Guzmán, in men’s -58 kilos, fell in the semifinals to Venezuelan Yohandri Granado González 2-0, with which he finished third on the podium and achieved the bronze medal along with Colombian Jefferson Fernández. The gold medal went to the Brazilian Paulo Souza de Melo, who beat Granado González 2-1 in the final.

KARATE

Yamila Benitez reached the silver medal in the category – 50 kilos. In the final she lost to Venezuelan Yorgelis Salazar Palacios and lost 8-0.

In the women’s -55 kilos category, Giuliana Mickaela Novak in the semifinals she lost by hantai against the Chilean Valentina Toro Meneses and took the bronze medal.

Likewise, in -67 kilos male, Gonzalo Navarro he lost in the semifinals with the Venezuelan Andrés Madera Delgado 3-2, for which he climbed to third place on the podium and also took the bronze medal.

Agustín Scenna-Alejandro Colombo-Axel Haack-Franco Calvo-Pedro Dickson-Joel Romero-Lautaro Barrios-Ignacio Pacheco-Clara Galfre (helmsman) won the silver medal in the test of eight long oars with a male coxswain, with a time of 5:45.75.

ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS

OTHER RESULTS.

FIELD HOCKEY

The men’s team achieved its second consecutive victory by a categorical 17-0 against Peru, ratifying its status as top candidates to win the gold medal. Lautaro Ferrero (3), Lucas Vila (3), Tobías Martins (3), Juan Ronconi (2), Bautista Capurro (2), Santiago Tomás Tarazona, Nicolás Santiago Acosta, Facundo Sarto and Ignacio Ibarra were the scorers. Argentina closed its participation as leader of Group A, with 6 points. Now he will wait for the definition of the other zone, made up of Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia, to meet his rival in one of the semifinals on Sunday 9.

GOLF

Valentina Rossi She shares second place with the Chilean Natalia Villavicencio, with 62 strokes each, five behind the leader of the positions, the Chilean Valentina Haupt, at the end of the first round of the individual tournament. The other Argentine, Magdalena Simmermacher is fifth, with 65.

BEACH SOCCER
