Modeste-Transfer ends up in court!
Again, a transfer from Anthony Modeste (34) is being negotiated in court!
As the “Rheinische Post” reports, a player agent claims to have been involved in the Frenchman’s move to Cologne in November 2018. At that time, Modeste, who now plays for BVB, switched back to the Rhinelanders from the Chinese club Tianjin.
The intermediary is therefore demanding a good 360,000 euros before the district court in Kleve. However, not from 1. FC Köln. Instead, the defendant is another player’s consultant, who is also noted in the indictment as a consultant GmbH.
The district court of Kleve said on Thursday: “The plaintiff is claiming payment of a fee based on his alleged involvement in the transfer of a professional footballer from the first Bundesliga from a Chinese club to 1. FC Köln in November 2018.”

And further: “The plaintiff works as a so-called ‘mediator’ in the professional soccer field, in particular he brings parties together when concluding player contracts, transfer contracts and participation agreements in clubs.”
Modeste returned to Cologne from China in November 2018 after having played for FC from 2015 to 2017. Tianjin Quanjian signed him in July 2017, but only a year later Modeste terminated his contract with the club due to non-payment of salary.
Negotiations on his return to Cologne begin on November 7th. Modeste herself is not called as a witness during the negotiations.
As early as 2018, there had been court trouble because of Modeste’s move to China. At that time, consultant Giacomo Petralito sued 1. FC Köln because he was said to have mediated the transfer with his company.
However, the Cologne Higher Regional Court dismissed the lawsuit, Petralito did not receive the required two million euros.
