Adapted weightlifting will debut at the Evita Games

“The inclusion of adapted weights (parapowerlifting) in the schedule of the Evita National Games helps us to continue adding youth to this sport, which today has more than 50 federated athletes throughout the country, nine of them National Team and two with tickets to the Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, Lourdes Maciel and Estefanía González.”, reflected the national coach Adrián Zanola, in full concentration of the selected team at CeNARD.

Then he analyzed: “Since we took office, five years ago, we have been developing a work plan that allows us to select talents in different parts of the country. And now with the participation in the Evita Games, more doors will open, as happens with all the sports that are part of these Games, which are emblematic of social sport and at the same time important to prioritize high performance.

This time there will be 13 disciplines in the national finals of Mar del Plata, which will take place from October 24 to 29. To the traditional sports that were already included (athletics, swimming, 3×3 basketball, boccia, soccer, volleyball, table tennis and goalball) will be added in addition to weights, taekwondo, badminton, wheelchair tennis and soccer for the blind.

“We celebrate the inclusion of boys and girls in sports practice and at the same time we will continue working so that Argentina has an increasingly better international participation. In December we will go to the Guadalajara International Open with four weightlifters, in search of more places for the Pan American Games”, warned Zanola.

And he detailed: “Federico Medina, Nahuel Gómez Rodrigo Villamarín and the youthful Lucas Toledo will travel to Mexico with the intention of qualifying for Santiago 2023, as Maciel and González already did.
