In the qualification, Vāvere scored 64 out of 75 possible points, while Upelnieks scored 73 points. With a total of 137 plates shot, the Latvian duo ranked 26th in the competition of 36 pairs.
The best six entered the finals and to achieve this, they had to score at least 143 points.
The World Championship in bench shooting will take place in the Croatian city of Osijek from September 19 to October 12.
