‘You don’t know what respect is’: Aston Villa player tired of comments about girlfriend’s viral video and answers journalist | Foreign Football

Foreign footballThe comment too much. Aston Villa player Douglas Luiz (24) was fed up with jokes being made about a cheering video of his partner, professional football star Alisha Lehmann (23). The Brazilian midfielder therefore corrected a joking journalist on Twitter.

The conscious video of a celebrating Lehmann has been widely shared on social media in recent days. After the Swiss international, who plays for Aston Villa’s women’s team, scored a goal, she jumped up and pointed to name and number – a popular celebration.

“But let’s be honest: after seeing the video, do you actually know what her shirt number is?” argued Milton Neves, a Brazilian television journalist. He thus alluded that many people when they see the video would be more interested in Lehmann’s body than her name or number that she pointed to.

Not exactly respectful, Douglas Luiz also thought. The nine-time Brazilian international responded to the tweet from Neves, which has since been deleted. “You are an experienced man and you have been in football for years,” he writes. “But now you’re posting a disrespectful video, both for women’s football and for the player in question who also happens to be my girlfriend. You don’t know what respect is, you clearly never learned that.” Luiz’s request for respect for Lehmann has been widely acclaimed on Twitter.

The Brazilian and the Swiss announced in November 2021 that they are in a relationship and of course they got to know each other in the shadow of Villa Park. Earlier, Lehmann formed a couple for a while with Ramona Bachmann, her teammate with the Swiss national team.

Lehmann has been on Aston Villa’s payroll since the summer of 2021 and she has been playing football in England since 2018. First at West Ham United, later also on a rental basis at Everton. Since 2017, Lehmann has also been a Swiss international – our Red Flames know that all too well. After all, the attacker scored three of her seven international goals against our national football women.

Lehmann is one of the most popular players in the world on social media. She has 8.3 million followers on Instagram. In comparison: the Dutch Lieke Martens has 1.3 million, Golden Ball winner Alexia Putellas has 2 million followers and the American Megan Rapinoe has 2.2 million.
