The second day of the U-15 European Championship, which is being held in the pavilion of sa Blanca Dona, has reduced Ibiza’s chances of a medal. Only Yaidel Gil and Álex Tur remain standing, both in men’s doubles. The first of them also goes ahead in the men’s individual modality.
In mixed doubles, Yaidel Gil and Sofía García said goodbye to the competition after falling in the round of 32 against the Danes Mikkel Eilersen and Eline Landsvig by a tight 21-19 and 21-19.
In men’s doubles, Yaidel Gil and Mario Rodríguez beat the Swiss Leo Crelier and Matia Dell’Antone 21-18 and 21-12, thus advancing to the round of 16. Pitiuso Álex Tur, who forms a couple with Gabriel Cañellas, has also entered this round. These last two defeated the Dutch Vihaan Shah and Pim Van Veghel 21-16 and 21-14.
In women’s doubles, Sofía García and María Luisa Jiménez were eliminated in the last 32 by the French Lily Gautier and Monitosita Touch (21-16 and 21-15). Finally, in the men’s singles, Yaidel Gil, seeded number two, beat Swiss Nicolas Briancourt 21-15 and 21-13.
