Tennis player Laura Siegemund just missed a big surprise at the tournament in Portoroz, Slovenia. The 34-year-old from Metzingen lost in the first round against Wimbledon winner Jelena Rybakina from Kazakhstan in three sets 7: 6 (7: 4), 4: 6, 6: 7 (8:10).
Anna-Lena Friedsam, on the other hand, prevailed against the American Elizabeth Mandlik 0: 6, 6: 4, 6: 1. In the round of 16, the 28-year-old is now playing against the top seeded Brit Emma Raducanu, who won the US Open in 2021.
