Viktorija Golubic (WTA 89) gained self-confidence at the WTA 250 tournament in Tallinn. In the first round, the Swiss defeated Madison Keys clearly 6:3, 6:2. Golubic, who had successfully fought her way through the qualification in the Estonian capital, beat the American in the 4th duel for the 3rd time.

In the first set, Golubic handed a break to make it 4:2 to win the set. In the second round, the woman from Zurich advanced 4-0 and did not give up this lead. After 1:16 hours she used her 3rd match point.

Bencic also sovereign

Belinda Bencic (WTA 14) needed exactly the same amount of time to reach the round of 16. The Swiss lived up to her role as a favorite and easily beat local Elena Malygina 6-0, 6-2.

Bencic had a furious start against wildcard holder Malygina (WTA 400) and only needed 26 minutes to win the first set. The Olympic champion showed a little more effort in the second round, in which she had to give up her serve twice. But because Bencic also took over the service from Malygina in all games in the 2nd set, the clear victory was never in danger.

Good prospects

In the round of 16, the Swiss will have to deal with significantly worse-ranked opponents. Bencic, seeded number 2, competes with British Katie Boulter (WTA 145), Golubic meets Czech Karolina Muchova (WTA 224).
