The new Professional Women’s Football League will finally become a reality this weekend. The indefinite break of the referees that had kept the start of the league competition in suspense ended yesterday after the F League, the Superior Sports Council (CSD) and the Federation (FEF) reached a last-minute agreement last night .

Despite the fact that all the parties had not agreed to sit down again at the table to deal with the matter again until today, after the unsuccessful meetings on Tuesday, the three-way talks carried out throughout the day managed to unblock the situation Finally. After the first league matchday had to be postponed due to the non-appearance of the referees, as well as the matches of the first round of the Copa de la Reina between Real Unión de Tenerife and Levante Las Planas, and Bizkerre-Alhama, the ball will roll again this weekend in the highest category of women’s football.

The arbitration group has finally accepted the proposal launched by the CSD and which the employers welcomed. That is, 25,000 euros for the main referees and 16,000 euros for the assistants. This offer meant a significant growth in the emoluments of the braids per game. The main referee went from charging 300 to 1,666 euros; the assistants, from 168 to 1,066; and the fourth referees, from 84 to 250.

The leaders of the F League recognized on Tuesday after the last meeting that they were willing to make an effort to reach the figures demanded by the CSD. From the FEF, however, a more distant position was maintained. What has led to the final white smoke has been the contribution of 350,000 euros that the CSD will make each year in the next three years, which will go to an individual mutual fund that the referees will be able to dispose of once they finish their professional career. In addition, the Federation will contribute the same amount during the first three years to the F League through the Coordination Agreement to be allocated entirely to the clubs so that they can meet the costs derived from arbitrations in the competition. This agreement will be valid for six seasons.

The mediation of the CSD, with its president José Manuel Franco at the head, has been decisive for the conflict to be resolved satisfactorily. The female arbitrators thus see their claims for improvements in their working and economic conditions addressed. For the first time in the history of women’s football they will enjoy an employment contract and will have the protection of their labor rights. Thus, the 54 members who will be in charge of directing the First Division matches will be able to resume their duties in the coming days.

La Real, against Villarreal

The F League will start on Saturday at 12:00 with the commitments corresponding to the second day between Barcelona and Granadilla, and Alavés and Madrid CFF. This same day the Real will also be released. Natalia Arroyo’s team receives Villarreal in Zubieta starting at 4:00 p.m. It must be remembered that the realists will have to face the first leg of the Champions League qualifier against Bayern Munich on Tuesday. At the moment it is unknown when the suspended matches of the first day of the competition will be recovered.
