“We are well advised not to overdo it again”

After the 2-0 win against FC Barcelona, a little more calm has returned to FC Bayern. While Munich are on course in the Champions League, they now want to get back on the road to success in the Bundesliga. Club boss Oliver Kahn called on the FCB stars before the guest appearance at FC Augsburg next weekend.

Bayern don’t have much time to celebrate after the important CL triumph against FC Barcelona. Julian Nagelsmann and his team have to play away at FC Augsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m., live on Sky). After the last three draws in a row and third place in the Bundesliga, Bayern are under pressure. Manuel Neuer & Co. want to say goodbye to the international break with a win.

Those responsible at the German record champions expect a significant increase in performance. As the “BILD” reports, Bayern boss Oliver Kahn made a “plain announcement” to the FCB stars in the dressing room before the Augsburg game: “We are well advised not to exaggerate again, to fall into euphoria. You saw what kind of football we can play in phases. Nevertheless, there are still phases in which we can play better. I said it to the team: Victory is especially valuable if we follow suit now. And catching up means winning in Augsburg,” the 53-year-old is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

“We have to be successful now”

After the furious start to the season, the form curve in the Bundesliga has recently pointed significantly downwards. Bayern captain Neuer also made it clear immediately after the CL game against Barcelona that the full focus must now be on Augsburg: “It’s difficult for us when we have teams that are compact at the back, that really defend to the last . We have to be successful now. There is another team waiting for us in FC Augsburg, which of course is not that easy, but we will find our solutions.”

The last three in the league came more than three weeks ago when Bochum was outclassed 7-0. After all: The gap to leaders Union Berlin is only two points. With a little support from Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg, Munich could take pole position again with a win in the Bayern derby against FCA next weekend.
