Water skiing and wakeboarding at Lake Ida in East Friesland
Oldenburg-Zentrum
On Sunday, September 4th, 2022, our Judo A-Youth went to Lake Ida to prove our sporting talent on the water.
With the exception of two judokas, all the other beginners were at water skiing/wakeboarding. Wetsuits put on the wrong way round were the result, and most of the first trips ended in a dive. During a chip break on the beach, the first adventures and experiences were discussed in detail and it was found that skiing is not at all comparable to water skiing. Over time, some switched to other boards and got better and better, so that many of them have circled the lake several times on the water.
We had even more fun after the break when everyone switched to the kneeboard. Various combinations, in pairs or alone, which sometimes worked more or less well, were tried and passed.
My falls during the first attempts to jump over a ramp with the wakeboard certainly contributed to the general entertainment of the lake visitors and made sure that every one of us really had to run back or swim.
After all the fun, we all drove exhausted to a nearby pizzeria for refreshments before heading back to Oldenburg.
