VfB reacts to the weak start to the season!
As BILD reported exclusively on Saturday evening, VfB is about to sign ex-BVB star Dan-Axel Zagadou (23). Club and player have already reached an agreement. The medical check is to follow on Monday.
The French central defender played for Dortmund for five years. He came in 2017 when today’s VfB sports director Sven Mislintat was still at BVB. He has been without a club since the summer and has kept fit with a personal trainer.
There were a few requests for him. Most recently, a commitment to West Ham United was about to end, failed at the last moment. The two Milan clubs Inter and Milan were also on him. Now VfB snapped.
Zagadou shouldn’t have any settling-in problems in Stuttgart. With Naouirou Ahamada (20), Enzo Millot (20), Tanguy Coulibaly (21) and Serhou Guirassy (26) there are four compatriots in the squad. And Silas (23), who was born in Congo, moved to France as a teenager.
But hopefully Zagadou will have less bad luck with injuries in the future. He played 95 games at BVB – but missed almost as many games due to injury, namely 83. This also had an impact on the market value of the former U21 international. By 2020, it had risen to 31.5 million euros, and is currently at 9 million euros.
