USA beat Serbia to advance to World Cup semi-finals

After fifteen minutes of resistance, Serbia, like many of the opponents of the Americans, realized the obvious: the United States are far too strong in the World Cup disputed in Australia (Sydney) and the quarter-final disputed Thursday between the two teams did not escape the rule.

Marina Maljkovic’s girls led in the first minutes, benefiting from a quiet start from their opponents (7-11, 3rd). But carried by Alyssa Thomas, imperial rebounder (13 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals), Cheryl Reeve’s players quickly regained the lead (14-13, 6th) and were then not taken back.

If, at the end of the first quarter, the debates were still tight (25-23, 10th), the Americans took shelter on a 15-2 inflicted before joining the locker room (50-33, 20th) .

The twelve American players scored at least two points during the game.

The match was then folded, especially since the Serbs were held to 7 points in the third quarter. In the end, the addition turned out to be salty for the losers (88-55), who had the merit of fighting – with unequal weapons – until the end. In the semi-finals, Team USA will face the winner of the meeting between Canada and Puerto Rico.
