US Open: After Roland-Garros, Bailly qualifies for the US Open junior singles final

Gilles-Arnaud Bailly, 5th in the world among juniors and 2nd seed, qualified Friday in New York for the final of the junior singles of the US Open tennis. The 16-year-old TC Visé-affiliated Bilzen native knocked out the Hong Konger in the semi-finals Coleman Wong, 15th in the world and seeded N.9, in three sets: 3-6, 6-3 and 6-3. The duel lasted 1h49.

The reigning European U18 champion will face the Spaniard in the final Martin Landaluce (ITF 10/N.5). The faller ofAlexander Blockx (ITF 23) in the quarter-finals eliminated the first seed of the tournament in the first semi-final the Paraguayan Adolfo Daniel Vallejo (ITF 1) 6-3 one 6-2 one 1h19.

Bailly lost the junior singles final of the Roland-Garros tournament on June 4 against the Frenchman Gabriel Debru 7-6 (7/5), 6-3.
