[Update II] Vitesse announces Dijks arrival through official channels

Mitchell Dijks is about to return to the Dutch fields. Dijks has already verbally agreed with a Dutch club, but the left back does not want to tell which club that is yet. The former Ajax player has played for the Italian Bologna since May 2018, which has now terminated his contract.

Dijks, together with his agent, has been looking for a new club since July. “I’ve had tough weeks,” the Dutchman says in the program ESPN Today. ‘The first plan was that I would sign with Verona, this fell through. Then a club from Turkey came, but it didn’t become that in the end. After this, we decided in good consultation to definitively dissolve the contract with Bologna.’

Oral agreement

Now Dijks is back in his birthplace Purmerend. ‘I want to play football again. I actually wanted a week’s holiday first, but that’s not an option.’ Dijks then says that he has reached an oral agreement with a Dutch club. “I can’t really say anything yet, just that I’ve reached an oral agreement.”

Dijks made his debut in 2012 in the first of Ajax under coach Frank de Boer. After stopping at sc Heerenveen, Willem II and Norwich City, Dijks made the switch from Ajax to Serie A in 2018. Dijks played 78 matches at Bologna and scored twice.
