The red and white Under 17 team will be involved in Rome, from 9 to 11 September next, at the Novipiù Cup – Memorial Mario Delle Cave. An appointment that will see Trieste participate together with the best Italian formations in the category and that will definitely be a good testing ground, thanks to the organization of the Stella Azzurra Roma which wants to remember one of its former players who left great memories.
Stefano Comuzzo, Head of the Youth Sector, will be at the helm of the Under 17s from Trieste and makes his examination two days after their departure: “First of all it is an important tournament because it allows us to confront ourselves with what is the top of Italian youth basketball. They are high-level matches and I don’t expect to be immediately ready to play games of this caliber, but simply because we are not used to it: it is clear that, in our perspective which is to train players, our goal will be to understand what we are at a point with the work done and what we lack to reach those levels ”.
You’ve been sweating in the gym for a few weeks, what’s your balance?
“The work is going very well, with great commitment from everyone in terms of quantity and quality. It is clear that, after two years of almost inactivity, it is important to try to make up for lost time and catch up with where we should be, speaking in terms of growth ”.
What do you expect from this Memorial, both in terms of teams in general and in terms of your formation?
“In Rome there will be the strongest teams in the category; I believe that the most competitive are Bassano and the Stella Azzurra Roma, but there will be all the other teams that in recent years have made the Under 15 and Under 17 National Finals, so it is precisely the comparison with the top of the class that will be important for us . Speaking of my team, more than on the team we focus particularly on the work focused on the players, what we like to see is how close or far our players will be compared to the best players ”.
