Basketball Super League, which started twice in the 1966-1967 season, will experience its 57th season as of the 2022-2023 season. Altınordu became the first champion of the league. In the 1978-1979 season, the status was changed and it was decided to play the play-off matches for the teams that finished the league in the top five places. The first champion of the play-off method was Efes Pilsen, as it was known at that time.

Fenerbahce follows Efes with 10 championships, while Eczacıbaşı, who is not in the league at the moment, has 8 championships.

The Head Coach with the most championships in the Basketball Super League is Aydan Siyavuş. Aydan Siyavuş, one of the important names of Turkish basketball, became the champion 6 times in Eczacıbaşı and once in Efes Pilsen, a total of 7 times. Aydın Örs follows Siyavuş in second place. Örs won 5 of 6 championships with Anadolu Efes and 1 of them with Fenerbahçe. Efes Head Coach Ergin Ataman has 5 championships, Fenerbahçe’s former coach Zeljko Obradovic, Oktay Mahmuti and Mehmet Baturalp have 4 championships.
