The debuts of Oriol Romeu, Toni Villa and Manu Vallejo

Míchel is very happy with the work that the sports management has done this summer to prepare his team. He has confidence in the reinforcements that have arrived in Montilivi and he has shown it since the start of the season. With the exception of the goalkeepers Gazzaniga and Toni Fuidias – because Juan Carlos is, for the moment, immovable in goal -, the coach has given debuts to all the additions that have been made. Yesterday was the turn of Oriol Romeu, Toni Villa and Manu Vallejo.

The midfielder from Southampton is expected to be important in the core of the team. Romeu made his debut against Mallorca, forming part of the starting eleven in a Ulldecona-branded midfield together with Aleix Garcia and playing the entire game. Míchel was full of praise for the player: “He is spectacular and very intelligent in analyzing the game. It gives us security both in the ball exit and in containment. He played an excellent game, bearing in mind that he has to go even further when he gets to know his teammates.” Romeu left Son Moix with four staples in his head after a collision with Abdon Prats.

He wasn’t the only one who played after being announced last Thursday as Girona’s new player. The coach of Vallecas also gave the opportunity to Villa and Vallejo. The former Valladolid replaced Reinier – the only pure striker available due to Stuani’s enforced absence – in the 65th minute. Villa have yet to set foot in La Vinya’s facilities and were added on Friday on the expedition from Barcelona to travel together to the Balearic Islands, but this did not pose any problem for Míchel. “We have given him possibilities through the videos. We know him very well. He can play at the point of attack, as he did today (yesterday for the reader). It can help us.”

Regarding Vallejo, who came in for Taty Castellanos in 1978, he commented that “he can play both outside and inside, at point guard or false nine, on the right or left…, but the most important characteristic he has is that goes to the goal”. “It hurts in these situations”, he insisted. On the other hand, Arnau and Reinier assumed ownership for the first time after having been substitutes until yesterday.
