The Basel tournament hopes to fire Federer with a tremendous ovation

The president of the ATP 500 Basel, Roger Brennwald spoke about Roger Federer’s retirement from professional tennis, leaving a huge void that could undoubtedly also affect his tournament: “One of the best decisions Federer made at the age of eleven was to be part of the tournament as a ball boy. The rest is history. When it looked like he was going to play here this year, that news has been replaced by his retirement. This is a very emotional moment for our tournament as it has seen the player lift the title numerous times. We know that the tournament will now slow down a bit after this news. However, we will work very hard to bring in good players”, affirmed Brennwald who confirms that they will do a special ceremony for Federer: “We all hope that the legend enters our center court once again to to be able to say goodbye to him,” he concluded on Blick.
