The 14th edition of Frecce Federiciane is starting, a Sunday dedicated to archery and history

Today, in the Montalbano di Oria park, the XIV edition of Frecce Federiciane will take place, an event dedicated to sport and history

The Federico II Academy Association, in collaboration with the Association Stupor Mundi Historical Archers of Oria organizes, also this year, “Frecce Federiciane “, an event dedicated to healthy competition and the values ​​of the sports world combined with the suggestion of historical re-enactment. The initiative, sponsored by the City of Oria, will take place in the evocative historical setting of Montalbano Park, in Oria, Sunday 4 September 2022.

The park, located close to the eastern part of the Norman – Swabian Castle, is a fascinating hanging garden of ancient origins. Boxwood hedges guide tourists among pools, ponds and suggestive green corners. A series of stairways leads to an enchanting panoramic walk that connects two towers of the adjacent Norman – Swabian Castle: the Torre del Salto to the Torre dello Sperone.

As the director of the Federico II Academy Salvatore Lana Delli Santi declares: “the goal of this event is to promote and practice recreational archery, suitable for everyone, for a healthy sporting life in close contact with nature and history. Archery, in general, helps those who practice it to find a center within themselves, to develop their potential for balance, awareness and concentration “.

The Frecce Federiciane program includes a mini archery course, aimed at participants of all ages, who will be supported by qualified instructors who will guide them to discover this exciting ancient discipline. From 4 pm to 7 pm, the historical arch amateur tournament, which will include two different competition categories. The trophy “Archer for a day” is aimed at everyone, passing tourists or enthusiasts, who will have the opportunity to safely use the bows made available by the Association, during their excursion in the park, recording the scores achieved with the shots made at each of the 5 shooting stations (the lynx, the wild boar, the pheasant, the fox and the mouflon). Parallel to the “Archer for a day” trophy, the trophy will also take place “Veteran Archers”, aimed at the most experienced archers and in possession of their own bow. There awards ceremony of the winners will be held at 19, for all participants. It will also be possible to try this discipline, even without participating in the tournament. The event will close the events included in the “summer history 2022” billboard, a thematic review promoted by the Federico II Academy, with the aim of promoting and enhancing the History and the City of Oria.
