The young man from Donostia-San Sebastian Kai Odriozola once again demonstrated this Saturday that at 16 he is one of the greatest promises in surfing. He beat world-ranked professionals in the first edition of Waxdayz, a surf and music festival held on La Zurriola beach in San Sebastian before a large crowd that packed the Sagüés area.

Odriozola, who appeared as the main favorite, was the absolute dominator of a day in which athletes and fans were able to enjoy a sea that offered good waves that facilitated a round show. Following the man from San Sebastian, who will turn 17 in November and has just been proclaimed European champion for national teams in the U18 category this summer, were the Hendaye born in Donostia Andy Criere, Adrien Toyon (France), Néstor García (Cantabria), Hodei Collazo ( Zarautz) and Thomas La Fonta (France).

Erostarbe falls in the World Cup

On the other hand, the Basque Team surfer Nadia Erostarbe was eliminated this Saturday from the World Cup held in Huntington Beach (USA) for not being able to overcome the seventh qualifying round corresponding to the playoffs. The zarautztarra had to face the Australian Sophie McCulloch, the Costa Rican Eilani Mcgonagle, and the Barbados surfer Chelsea Tuach, who finished first in the batch.
