In the face of adversity, it is necessary to look for alternatives. And in that sense, the Super Amara Bera Bera has managed to get out of a complicated situation in which he has been immersed in recent months. Or at least, for now, it seems so. With the change of season, the Bidebieta-based club decided to go from having a squad of sixteen players to one of fifteen with the incentive of paying eleven monthly payments instead of ten, a decision that forced decisions to be made when preparing the new template. Finally, it was decided not to renew Mirene Moreno on the far left and bet on Sara Gil despite having problems with her right elbow since the end of October 2020.

The medical staff of the women from San Sebastian trusted her recovery throughout the summer to start the course in good condition, but the conservative treatment to which she has been subjected has not given the expected results. Moreover, everything indicates that the Catalan will have to go through the operating room.

For all this, Imanol Álvarez was forced to convert a player to the extreme and the chosen one was Laura Hernández. “The coach consulted me before renewing and I accepted the decision,” says the woman from Elche. “Although I signed as a winger, over the last two years I have had to play on the wing for different reasons,” he adds, “and I am happy with the decision, which does not catch me again because it is a position that I have held so much in the national team as in Elche ». Proof of this are the twelve goals that he has scored in the first two days. “At the beginning it was difficult for me to change the chip but I am performing well”, she continues, “although I still have room for improvement”.

On a collective level, Hernández acknowledges that “the team is fine”, especially since the victory in Granollers -the first of this campaign- served to scare away the ghosts that appeared in the debut against Malaga. “We needed all the work we had been doing since the preseason to be reflected on the track,” he insists. «We changed the defensive system (from 6-0 to 5-1) and we were able to be more ourselves. That aggressiveness at the back allowed us to recover balls and run, which in the end is our game », he says.

On the other hand, and as far as the next rival is concerned, Laura insists that «against Elche it will be a complicated match. It is true that he has a new team that is still to be greased, with young people, but he will continue to make his defense so particular that he always gets anyone into trouble », she explains. “So we will have to defend strongly, with intensity, and plan a good attack, with patience, that allows us to overcome their pressing defense and find gaps,” the 25-year-old concludes.

Menéndez is discharged

The captain, who suffered a small fracture of the bones of her nose on August 19 in the friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen, has already started training but her presence this Saturday (6pm, Gasca) against Elche is practically ruled out .
