Under the slogan “In Bahia we breathe basketball”, the municipality announced in the last few hours the construction of more than 20 open-air basketball courts in different neighborhoods of the city.
It is an initiative that began some time ago, with the renovation of the one located in Parque de Mayo (where the skate park is located) and that also reached General D. Cerri and Ingeniero White.
Precisely those that are already enabled are those of Parque de Mayo, Parque Boronat, Villa Miter square, Amaducci neighborhood, Cooperation II, Cerri and at the intersection of Cuyo and Vieytes.
As announced by the commune on its Twitter account (@MunicipioBahia), another six courts are being built in the San Agustín neighborhood, in Washington and Pilmaiquén, in Mariano Moreno square, Don Bosco square, City Park and Palos Verdes neighborhood.
These are playgrounds, with the corresponding demarcation lines, which have the corresponding non-slip paint and with anti-vandalism boards, with chain nets, in the American playground style.
The project, which includes a total of 24 courts, is an initiative of the Public Spaces area with investment from the Urban Management area.
It has the collaboration of the Sports area to determine the choice of places where they are located and not to place a court near a basketball club, as explained before a consultation from “The new one.”.
The intention is to inaugurate the courts with matches and triple championships, for example, as was already done in the Parque de Mayo and Villa Amaducci. The Boronat Park field will be completed shortly.
It is awaited to achieve greater climatic stability and the advancement of the schedule of the ABB women’s basketball competition to hold a 3×3 match.
