Bayern’s search for a new coach continues. Former sports director Michael Reschke still sees the situation as relaxed and praises one candidate highly.
When it comes to coaches, Michael Reschke knows what he’s talking about. The former sports director of FC Bayern worked with Pep Guardiola, among others, at the record champions. “It’s not the end of the world” for Bavaria
Reschke is relaxed about the fact that they still haven’t found a new coach in Munich for the coming summer. “I do not understand the whole excitement. It’s not the end of the world that FC Bayern hasn’t found a coach yet,” he explains in an interview with SPORT1.
“The fact is that none of the candidates made a decision against the club. Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick have decided on their very interesting existing jobs. That is absolutely understandable. Some people have everything they need in Leverkusen. The other has the dream job of national coach and the third is revered in Austria.”
FC Bayern have certainly not lost any of their appeal. “Everyone would be well advised to simply trust Max Eberl and Christoph Freund,” says Reschke.

Roger Schmidt as the new top candidate at Bayern?
Reschke has a special look at Roger Schmidt, who, according to Bild, is now the top candidate and is going “full speed” on Bayern. During his time at Leverkusen, he helped guide the current Benfica coach to Bayer 04.
“Roger Schmidt is someone who is absolutely at peace with himself. In order to find great happiness in his life, he certainly doesn’t need the coaching job at Bayern. But he would trust him – and so would I. “He is a top man who has been successful everywhere,” says Reschke with certainty.
The hectic circumstances in Munich? From his point of view, no problem! Reschke: “He could also deal with the environment. Benfica is just as hot a place in Portugal as FC Bayern is in Germany. He can do it.”
Schmidt – and every other coach – would now have to live with the stigma of being an “emergency solution”. Nobody wants to be considered the third or even fourth choice. You have to be able to endure that.

“There are still enough good trainers on the market. In addition, these top people who are considered for Bayern always have great self-confidence. It doesn’t matter to them whether they are called an A, B or C solution. What is important is that they are successful. “It can also be a supposed D solution,” says Reschke.
Bavaria continues to have charisma
He also refers to the “hard and good work” that has been done for the record champions in recent years. This keeps FCB’s appeal high: “It doesn’t happen by itself. The coaching candidates also see that. In any case, I’m not worried about FC Bayern.
Not even the time factor can scare Reschke – even though the squad is about to be shaken up and the upcoming coach is supposed to be involved here.
“The important thing is not when the coach comes, but whether he is successful after signing. You can see the first results in October and November and if things go well in terms of sport, all the fuss beforehand is irrelevant,” said Reschke.
