New centre-forward? Toppmöller brings up Marcus Thuram at FC Bayern

FC Bayern has been associated with numerous strikers in recent months. Harry Kane in particular should be at the top of Munich’s wish list. Bundesliga trainer legend Klaus Toppmöller has brought up a new name for the German record champions with Marcus Thuram.

Last summer, Bayern made a conscious decision not to sign a “real successor” to Robert Lewandowski. In view of the current (offensive) crisis in the Bundesliga, however, the striker debate on the Isar has been rekindled. While a transfer in winter seems unlikely, Munich would like to sign a new center forward by summer 2023 at the latest, as the “kicker” recently reported. Appropriately, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano claims to have learned that they are looking for a “well-known striker”. Under certain circumstances, you could also find something in the Bundesliga.

“He’s big, fast, good in the air and will be free next summer”

Trainer legend Klaus Toppmöller has now made himself strong for the Gladbach striker Marcus Thuram. Accordingly, the Frenchman would fit Bayern’s profile very well: “If I were FC Bayern, I would try to find Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram. He’s big, fast and strong in the air,” he explained in an interview with “kicker”. Another point that speaks for the 25-year-old is the fact that he is available for free in the summer of 2023.

Thuram has been under contract with Mönchengladbach since 2019 and has scored 34 goals and prepared 25 more goals in 110 games for the foals in the past three years. The four-time France international was already linked with a departure from Gladbach last summer and appears to be opposed to an extension with the Rhinelanders.
