NBA, the sad parable of Emoni Bates: the former No. 1 prospect of US high schools arrested

Emoni Bates was the No. 1 among high school prospects across Americaending on the cover nothing less than “Sports Illustrated”the first high school student to do so since LeBron James. It was there‘October 2019the cover warned “Born for all this” and the title of the article increased the dose: “Magic, Michael, LeBron… Emoni Bates? This 15-year-old is next on the list“. But from then on, nothing went right for the Ypsilanti, Michigan prospectus. He had given his word (except then change his mind) to play with the Spartans, a Michigan State. So he had signed up for Memphis, owner only the first 7 races before coach Penny Hardaway chose to remove him from the quintet. In January a injury and then the return to the field (only for 15 minutes total) in the two games played by the Tigers in the NCAA tournament. Hence the decision to move, leave Memphis for Eastern Michigan, and go home. Certainly not a US college basketball powerhouse, but at least the chance to start from scratch.
