National coach Van Gaal has good news for goalkeeper Pasveer | Football

The national coach said a day before the duel with Belgium that Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong, who were missing against the ‘Red Devils’ due to injuries, are in principle certain of a place in the World Cup selection. “They have meant so much to us in qualifying and again in the Nations League. I hope they are fit for the World Cup. Because I did tell them: if you’re not fit, you don’t come. We are not a rehabilitation center.”

Van Gaal has a group of about sixty potential World Cup participants in the picture. “The players who were there today have a plus for it. But a plus is no guarantee.”

Preferred over Cillessen

Pasveer made his debut against Poland on Thursday and was also preferred against the Belgians over Jasper Cillessen, Mark Flek and Andries Noppert. Feyenoord keeper Justin Bijlow, last year’s number 1 under Van Gaal, was missing from the selection. “Pasveer has kept the ‘zero’ twice. But that also has to do with the team, with the tactical formula we applied to play against these kinds of teams. Belgium has not had many chances. I think a goalkeeper should always stop the ball. He did that very well, he made no mistake. But it was simple work,” said Van Gaal.

The goalkeeper said he is not yet counting on a place in the World Cup selection at the NOS. “Not at all, we will have a lot of matches until the World Cup in which anything can happen. The national coach also looks at how you are doing at your club. You have to keep delivering, he keeps saying,” says Pasveer.

Injured defender Martins Indi from AZ can forget the World Cup

Bruno Martins Indi will not go with the Orange to the World Cup in Qatar in November. The AZ defender sustained an injury in the home match against Ajax (2-1) last week. National coach Louis van Gaal of the Dutch national team said on Sunday after the victory over Belgium in the Nations League (1-0) that Martins Indi is not fit in time.

Martins Indi was part of the selection eight years ago, when the Orange squad under the leadership of Van Gaal finished third in the World Cup in Brazil.

The selection of the Dutch national team for the upcoming World Cup may consist of 26 players. Van Gaal said on Sunday that he now has ten names in mind of footballers who will come along anyway, provided they are fit by then.
