Mornas: the Medieval returns on Sunday for a 30th edition

Ladies, knights, damsels… Hear, hear! The 30th edition of the Medieval of Mornas will be held this Sunday at the fortress and throughout the village.

From 10 a.m., the historic coat of arms will be unveiled before the start of the costume parade and the launch of all the free entertainment. On the Cours des Platanes, the taverns will prepare the midday feasts, the children as well as the older ones will be able to play giant wooden games. Musicians, stilt-walkers or even mysterious creatures will stroll between the Cours des Platanes and the Place de la Fontaine.

The Mornassian associations of course participate in the celebration: demonstration of lace, sale of pancakes and other delicacies or even virtual visit of the fortress for those who do not have the possibility of climbing the climb… The old trades will be present at the bottom from the village with a forge and a wood turner demonstration.

On the Montée de la Combe, craftsmen await shoppers: jewellery, wooden toys and costumes for children, belts, products from beehives, specialties made from chestnuts, calligraphy and something to feast on… will find there. A little higher, a leather workshop for children will face the small farm, back this year to the delight of nature lovers.

The Notre-Dame de Val Romigier association opens the doors of the Romanesque building to visitors and will also host two medieval wedding ceremonies.

From the Val Romigier esplanade, which will host two performances of acrobats as well as the equestrian jousts at the end of the day, visitors will see the Trencavel camp with its craft workshops from the Middle Ages: calligraphy, chain mail, coinage, archery , pottery.

The archers of the princes will offer an introduction to archery on a site with a view of the Grande Dame de Mornas…

Finally, the Fortress will be accessible free of charge from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Oriflamme association will provide the guided tours. Two concerts are planned in the chapel and its door will be taken in the middle of the afternoon!

The day will end on the Val Romigier esplanade with a fine show of horse jousting (45 minutes).
