Charles De Ketelaere has not yet really exploded at AC Milan. The Red Devil can often start from trainer Stefano Pioli, but could not leave his mark on the Italian champion yet. But at the Rossoneri, they firmly believe in their 35 million man.

Those are not the words of an Italian newspaper, but of Paolo Maldini. Football legend, club icon and sporting boss at Milan.

“You know, the transfer market is a bit dynamic. We first tried at all costs to bring in Sven Botman (defender of Lille OSC, ed.), but then finally opted for Newcastle. For him, we had completely slackened our remaining transfer budget. At this point in our development, we do not choose to bring in mediocre footballers, but players with a lot of potential. And De Ketelaere fits perfectly into that category. He still needs some time, even if our supporters and the newspapers are not patient.”

De Ketelaere is currently making nine appearances and one assist for Milan. Five times our compatriot was in the starting line-up, but never once did he complete the 90 minutes.

“Let’s not forget that someone like Michel Platini didn’t shine at all in his first six months for Juventus and then won everything with them. Charles is still too young to carry much responsibility in a team like ours. We have to see that he can find the right balance and we have absolutely no doubts about him.”
