#Michoacan | A whole event First ‘K’eri Ireta Tournament’

•More than 3,000 Michoacans from 40 municipalities participated in the disciplines of soccer, basketball and volleyball

Morelia, Michoacán, September 23, 2022.- La Piedad and Tingüindín dominated the state phase of the First ‘K’eri Ireta Tournament’; the first municipality was proclaimed soccer champion in the men’s and women’s branches, while the second in men’s basketball and volleyball, at the Cecufid and CDER facilities. In this edition, 3,000 athletes from Michoacan from 40 municipalities competed in three disciplines from April to August.

Raúl Morón Vidal, director of Cecufid, explained that from the first day of this administration several issues were prioritized, among them, sports massification, for which competitions like this help to meet these objectives, which is why the agency will seek to carry out this type of activity more often to fulfill the task of Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, Governor of Michoacán.

well-being and economics, because they want to transform society a little bit and sport shows that it is a transversal axis of this government”, shared the director of Cecufid, Raúl Morón Vidal.

The women’s soccer team from La Piedad beat the Tacámbaro team 4-1 in the final, while the men’s team beat their similar team from Sahuayo 1-0. The Tingüindín men’s basketball and volleyball teams won 73-66 and two sets to one against the Uruapan teams, respectively.

The Tacámbaro women’s basketball quintet won the title 35-33 in a dramatic match against the representatives of the ‘Pearl of Cupatitzio’. While the women’s volleyball team of Múgica beat Venustiano Carranza’s team two sets to one, for which he kept the scepter that endorses him the best of the fair.

More than 3,000 Michoacans from 40 municipalities participated in this competition in the disciplines of soccer, basketball and volleyball in three phases: Intermunicipal, Regional and State, in the latter the semis and finals were held in the city of Morelia, specifically, in the aforementioned facilities of the dependency.

In the First ‘K’eri Ireta Tournament’, a word of Purépecha origin that means “Great Town”, the 10 regions that make up the state saw action, such as Lerma-Chapala; Bajío, Cuitzeo, Oriente, Tepalcatepec, Purépecha, Pátzcuaro-Zirahuén, Tierra Caliente, Sierra Costa and Infiernillo. The inscriptions were free and were carried out with the heads of the institutes and/or those in charge of the sport of the municipalities.
