At 9:45 in the morning, Marc Márquez got on the MotoGP Honda RC213V to complete his first laps with a MotoGP machine, exactly one hundred days after his last race at Mugello. So he was boarding a plane for Minnesota to undergo his fourth operation on his right arm. Now, he is already looking optimistically at his return date to competition, which is getting closer, although this is not the time to be in a hurry.
«One thing is to do a test, which is four laps and stop, four laps and stop, and the other is an entire race. Today I wouldn’t finish an entire race at 27 laps”, commented the driver from Cervera when asked about his chances of running in the next Aragon Grand Prix.
He went out on the track with a well-defined work plan in advance: ride only in the morning and with a limit of 40 laps. Thus, he divided the test into seven batches of 6-7 laps each and finished the day with 39 laps. His best time was 1’32.395, just over a second off the time set by Pecco Bagnaia, the fastest of the day, and six tenths off his teammate Pol Espargaró.
More than respectable times for the eight-time world champion, who made the following comparison about his reunion with the motorcycle: «It’s like when you start skiing in winter. On the first descent you go more rigid and little by little you loosen up, but you don’t forget to ride a motorcycle». Some statements that came with a smile from ear to ear.

The time that Marquez spent on the track saw him in a natural posture, not as forced as he was a few months ago, when he had a 34-degree rotation in his right humerus. This allows him to ride in a more aggressive way, with a very recognizable style on the bike. He still lacks strength in his arm and I noticed that especially in the right corners, where he always left a few tenths. But everything is normal. We must not forget that he has barely been able to complete two weeks of training in the gym, plus the two previous days that he rode on a circuit with a street bike. He confirmed that he will also participate in the second and final day of testing on Wednesday. And then? «We will see how his arm reacts over the weekend and if it makes sense to go to Aragón»
