The English Premier League club Chelsea FC with team manager Thomas Tuchel has the French centre-back Wesley Fofana from the league competitor Leicester City obligated. According to the Premier League club, the 21-year-old has signed a seven-year deal until mid-2029. The transfer fee is reported to be around €81.3m (£70m) plus bonus payments in the UK.
“I’m here to win trophies – the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, everything. I came here to win and the club is built to win trophies so I’m here to continue that,” Fofana was quoted as saying by the club’s website. It was “a dream” for him.
“We are delighted to have brought one of Europe’s most exciting talents to Chelsea and to continue to strengthen this area of our squad for this season and many to come,” said Chelsea’s chairman Todd Boehly. Chelsea, winners of the 2021 Champions League, already had their defense with them this summer Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella strengthened. (sid)
