Kirsten Flipkens is in the final of the US Open in the mixed doubles. On the side of the Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin, Flipkens settled in the semifinals with a Chinese-Croatian duo.

Kirsten Flipkens said goodbye to singles at Wimbledon, but the 36-year-old Belgian still has a strong say in doubles.

In the women’s doubles, Flipkens, together with Sara Sorribes, still ended up in the quarterfinals, but in the mixed doubles our compatriot is in the final.

Last night Flipkens and the Frenchman Edourd Roger-Vasselin were too strong for the Chinese Zhang Shuai and the Croat Mate Pavic in 3 sets.

The first 2 sets were neatly divided. This was not followed by a full 3 set, but one according to the “super tiebreak” principle, in which, among other things, 10 points are played first. Flipkens and her French doubles partner won 10-6.

In the final, Flipkens and Roger-Vasselin will meet an American or an Australian duo. For the Belgian it will be the first Grand Slam final in her long career.
