Kalniņš and Yeliseevs failed in the opening of the season of the occupiers’ league

Both are the only representatives of Latvia in the KHL championship among players.

Kalniņš, representing the Far Eastern unit “Amur” of Khabarovsk, is the team’s second goalkeeper. He has played in three of the nine games. On average, the former goalkeeper of the Latvian national team allowed 4.31 shots per match and saved only 87.5% of the opponents’ shots.

He is not in the league’s top 30 goaltenders in any of these stats.

Kalniņš’s competitor in the goal of “Amur” Yevgeniis Alikin has allowed 1.92 pucks in his goal in seven games, managing with 93.8% shooting.

The Khabarovsk team is currently on a four game losing streak.

“Amur” occupies the ninth position in the Eastern Conference standings with three wins in nine games and seven points in the 11-team competition.

Meanwhile, Yeliseev, who represents the Vladivostok “Admiral” led by Leonid Tambiev, has collected only one assist in nine games, which is a very modest indicator for a guest striker. His utility factor is -2.

Among the forwards of “Amur” who play regularly, only Mark Werb has fared worse, who has not scored in eight games.

In the previous season, Yeliseevs was one of the leaders of Riga “Dinamo”. He scored 13 goals and seven assists in 29 matches.

“Admiral” is in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with nine points earned in nine games.

Teams expect a performance worthy of a leader from guest players, so it won’t be a surprise if one of them (maybe both) will be dismissed from the club or will break their contract. It is only the beginning of the season, but neither of them can be proud of their statistics so far.

Kalniņš and Yeliseevs have closed their doors to the Latvian national hockey team.
