Judo-Bundesliga: Multikraft Wels ends up in fifth place with the last squad

Unbelievable bad luck: The entire first set of the state champion team from Multikraft Wels dropped out in the decisive Bundesliga preliminary round in Leibnitz. In the end, two battle points were missing to reach the final four as hoped. Defending champion Multikraft Wels has to be satisfied with fifth place in the men’s Bundesliga this year.

CATFISH. The fact that the Welser had to compete without their two World Cup fixed starters Wachid and Shamil Borchashvili because of the World Cup preparation was weakening enough. But when the state champions Daniel Leutgeb (up to 60 kg) and Kimran Borchashvili (up to 66 kg) were injured before the decisive Bundesliga fights, coach Manfred Dullinger suddenly had a line-up problem, because Issa Naschcho (up to 73 kg) didn’t stand either to disposal. At the same time he was at the Junior European Championships in Prague.

Exemplary use

“The young reserve team led by veteran Michael Winkler, who showed exemplary commitment, gave their all. However, starting with the last Wels squad completely falsifies the strength ratio in the 1st Bundesliga,” says Multikraft trainer Manfred Dullinger, who is convinced: “Multikraft Wels is still number one in Austria with the strongest line-up.”

The Results

Multikraft Wels in the 2nd Bundesliga preliminary round: Galaxy Wien 2:5, Dynamic One 4:3, Bischofshofen 2:5, Flachgau 7:0. Final score of the Bundesliga round: 1st Galaxy Wien (16 points), 2nd UJZ Mühlviertel (12), 3rd Wimpassing (12), 4th Bischofshofen (10), 5th Wels (10).
