Jamarr Sanders completes Strasbourg squad

Strasbourg have signed full-back/leader Jamarr Sanders, completing their squad for the 2022-2023 season.

SIG Strasbourg had given itself until this weekend to find the last piece of its 2022-2023 workforce. Sporting director Nicola Alberani and the technical staff were looking for a creative second position capable of defending. They threw their grappling hook at Jamarr Sanders (1.93 m, 34 years old), experienced guard/leader.

This American player has a long experience in the Italian championship, which Nicola Alberani knows very well. For the past two years he has worn the colors of Tortona. After moving up to the first division in 2021, the promoted had an excellent 2021-2022 financial year, reaching the Cup final and the quarter-finals of the playoffs. With 10.8 points on 47% shooting success, 3.1 rebounds and 3 assists in less than 28 minutes per game, Jamarr Sanders had a lot to do with it.

Previously, the Chicagoan evolved in Greece, G-League, Germany and Turkey without forgetting his various experiences in Italy. At 34, he will therefore discover the French championship and share the back line with Marcus Keene, Jean-Baptiste Maille, Lucas Beaufort, DeAndre Lansdowne and Illan Piétrus.

“It’s a real pleasure to welcome Jamarr Sanders,” commented Nicola Alberani. Sometimes the transfer market is weird because you’re hoping or forced to discard names, but sometimes a door opens to a real opportunity like signing a player like him. He is a player with proven experience, who has been able to adapt to different coaching styles and who can play in different positions. He has the ability to do great things and is a real asset to our team. He learns and understands things very quickly, which will certainly facilitate his integration. He has shown that he can be a leader on the pitch, an excellent shooter and a very good playmaker. We are sincerely very happy that he has chosen to join us”.

Jamarr Sanders will be in Alsace from the beginning of next week for an express integration before the first game of the Betclic ELITE season, Saturday in Pau.

“Above all, like the SIG Army, I am happy that our roster is finally complete,” added coach Lassi Tuovi. Jamaar is a player we’ve been following for some time, with a very interesting and experienced profile. He showed during his career that he worked hard to always play at the highest level. Last season in the Playoffs with Tortona he demonstrated his maturity and his impact. We had been impressed. He has improved year after year and clearly has the level to be a BCL player. For the final piece of our puzzle, we wanted a player who could shoot, be decisive, but also create for others. This is his case and he will also bring his athletic side in defense. Jamarr has everything to help us in the coming season and we are very happy that he has signed with us”.

The 2022-2023 workforce of SIG Strasbourg:
