The Dutch top coach Sven Groeneveld experienced the Swiss world star’s darkest hour before his career really took off.
Dutchman Sven Groeneveld was the head coach of Swiss Tennis at a crucial stage in Roger Federer’s early career. The 57-year-old successful coach joined the association in the summer of 1997 when it moved its training center from the ailing Ecublens on Lake Geneva to the new association headquarters in Biel, where Federer was just 16 years old after completing the development program on Lake Geneva and just started his professional career.
