In the middle of the Edwards affair, the 3 players already sanctioned for homophobia

Anthony Edwards just made headlines for all the wrong reasons… Indeed, he decided to publish an Instagram story in which he makes openly homophobic remarks, and the league shouldn’t let that pass. He risks a nice fine, like three other players before him.

After an encouraging playoff campaign, during which he showed incredible character and innate leadership qualities, Anthony Edwards still has to take a step forward in his progress and establish himself as one of the best players on the planet. In a team that has improved greatly with the arrival of Rudy Gobert, Ant could be the key to the success of the Timberwolves.

Moreover, the few information that have leaked on his summer training are enough to terrorize his future opponents, the former Draft No. 1 would have become absolutely monstrousboth physically and in his understanding of the game. If he confirms this on the floor at the start of the school year, Minnesota could well be the big surprise of the season, like the Grizzlies a year ago.

Anthony Edwards fined for homophobic remarks?

Unfortunately, all the beautiful promises could be ruined by the scandal in which he threw himself. This Sunday, at the wheel of his racing car, he filmed himself making openly homophobic remarks and decided to publish the sequence on Instagram… The reactions were numerous, and the league should not delay in sanctioning it. There have already been three antecedents in the NBA.

  • Kevin Durant : $50,000 fine in 2021 for homophobic and misogynistic remarks on social networks.
  • Nikola Jokic : $25,000 fine for saying, “I’m not gay, but my opponent was way longer than I expected.”
  • Rajon Rondo: 1 match suspension in 2015 for making homophobic remarks to a referee who had just come out.

The case Kevin Durant is perhaps the most similar to the Anthony Edwards file, in the sense that the words used were quite violent… The difference is that the Nets player addressed comedian Michael Rapaport in DM, when the back of the Timberwolves clearly targeted a group of men walking down the street. The intentions were therefore much more harmful.

The sanction should therefore be heavier than the 50,000 dollars inflicted on KD, but less than the suspension match of Rajon Rondo, who clearly attacked a referee on his sexuality when he was playing for the Kings. Unless Adam Silver decided to bang his fist on the table and make Anthony Edwards an example for the rest of the league. Answer in the next few days.

Anthony Edwards knows it, he made a big mistake by publishing this quite clearly homophobic story… He just has to wait for the league’s decision about him, and above all to be done discreetlyt. Hopefully he will be mature enough to learn from his mistake.
