Puerto Rico will participate in the event after receiving an invitation from the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

In the Preworld tournament, the team played 4-3. The Puerto Rican team will be made up of active Double-A Superior Baseball and Minor League Baseball (MiLB) players.
