Sebastián Gómez, one of the captains of Atlético Nacional referred this Wednesday to the departure of coach Hernán Darío Herrera at a press conference in Guarne.
“I want to thank the teacher ‘Arriero’ for giving us back the glory and giving us that star 17. Nobody is going to take it away from him or us, it will remain for life. Thank him for everything he left us and for putting Nacional back on top”.
He reiterated, as on other occasions, that Nacional’s problem is not the coach’s, but theirs, the players.
“Are we who have to give our 100%everything we have, because if another technician is not going to come, and if we don’t show the team, the union and what Nacional is, many technicians are going to come, and that is not the real problem of Nacional, because we have all the tools, and we must know how to recover from any difficulty and move the team forward”.
He added that it is necessary to have a team “with character and personality” to be able to show the DNA of the club.
“We have not changed anything from what was the champion team to now, because we are the majority. Nacional cannot be in the position it is in the table, it always has to be in the first places”.
Regarding the possibility of a foreign or Colombian technician arriving, he assured that he prefers that all commit to taking the club forward: “Let each one do what they should do, I have experienced processes with foreign and Colombian technicians and nothing happened. It is one more issue of us and committing ourselves and knowing where we play. We are in the best company in the country and we have to prove it every day”.
He said that it is in these moments when it must be shown that the team is united. “Real teams see each other in bad times. We have to lift this and show why we have to give more to change this story that is not good”.
