HSV beats Karlsruhe and is second

Dhe Hamburger SV has played its way to a direct promotion place in the 2nd Bundesliga, at least for one night. Coach Tim Walter’s effective team won 1-0 (1-0) at home over Karlsruher SC on Saturday evening and jumped into second place. Ludovit Reis scored the goal of the evening in the 42nd minute in front of 45,623 spectators in the Volkspark.

“The victory was hard-fought, we had a hard time,” said Jonas Meffert on Sky: “In the second half we did well after the changes and ultimately deserved to win.”

Reis is not attacked and hits

At HSV, Miro Muheim returned to the starting lineup after recovering from lumbago. Tim Leibold rotated out of the team for this. Karlsruhe, on the other hand, started with the same starting line-up for the third time in a row.

The KSC started boldly and also had the first big opportunity. Malik Batmaz served Fabian Schleusener in the penalty area, but HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes parried the shot from close range (12′).

In the 34th minute, Muheim clarified in dire need before Schleusener, who was ready to score again. The HSV leadership was all the more surprising. Reis was not attacked by the guest defense and deliberately shot into the left corner.

After the change of sides, KSC initially lost its carelessness and acted much more cautiously. The Hamburgers controlled the events and broke the Karlsruhe series of three wins in a row. In the final phase, referee Tobias Reichel took back an alleged penalty kick for the hosts after checking the video images.
