James Rodriguez had only been in the Qatari desert since the summer of 2021, but could not resist the lure of a Greek adventure.
Al-Rayyan had the Colombian’s contract terminated “with the consent of both parties”. The way was open for Rodriguez to go to Olympiakos, where he will sign for one season, with an option for an extra year.
Shortly before the kick-off of the Europa League match Olympiakos-Freiburg, the Greek record champion announced the arrival of Rodriguez. He was introduced to the supporters in the stadium just before kick-off.
Then the attacking midfielder took place in the stands next to old acquaintance Marcelo. The Real Madrid figurehead signed a contract with Olympiakos at the beginning of this month.
James Rodriguez previously played for FC Porto (2010-2013), Monaco (2013-2014), Real Madrid (2014-2017, 2019-2020), Bayern Munich (2017-2019) and Everton (2020-2021).
